Servas is an international, non-governmental organization.  Servas International was founded in 1949 by Robert Luitweiler and was originally called ‘Peacebuilders’.  The goal of Servas is: to contribute to peace, by promoting understanding, tolerance and … friendships worldwide.

In 1973 Servas joined the United Nations as an NGO.
